During Thanksgiving weekend, which is an integral part of the shopping fever called Black Friday, 151 million people in the United States spent total $ 10.4 billion, what is about 10% less than last year. The total spending of Americans is far less, but the amount which they spent while shopping online, has increased significantly.

Which is the most profitable weekend? The last one in November!

The largest discounts, average more than 60%, could be found in traditional stores as Kohl's, JCPenney or Stage. Regarding the type of goods that were most discounted in general, apparel & accessories masterfully led - this category compassed up to a fifth of all discounts. But particular discounts were the highest in cases of jewelry, books and movies.

How is it possible that sales for Black Friday this year are lower than before? The reason is mainly that a lot of retailers offer discount events before Black Friday, and long after. Currently, Black Friday isn´t the only one day in the year when prices fall rapidly down. Just continuous events of many retailers are the reason why people don´t wait to buy goods during Black Friday, but buy it continuously during the whole year.

More and more online purchases

Year after year, more and more purchases during Black Friday took place online - either through computers and laptops or smart phones. This time people spent in these purchases more than 4.45 billion dollars - of which 2.72 billion dollars during Black Friday (14% more than last year) and 1.73 billion during the Thanksgiving Day (even 25% more than last year).

And what people buy online the most? From electronics, it was for example Samsung 4K TVs, the Apple iPad Air 2 or Microsoft Xbox One, from toys then Lego Dimensions or Barbie Dream House.
