Williamsburg Outlet Mall was one of the Peninsula's first outlet shopping malls located at the intersection of Richmond and Centerville roads in Lightfoot, just outside of Williamsburg in Virginia.
The shopping center was built in 1982, opened in 1983 and had 40 stores. This mall closed after the Christmas season of 2013 and most of the Williamsburg Outlet Mall stores moved to The Premium Outlets. The mall, had trouble keeping tenants. Stores, which last leased space in the building, included The Bottom Line, Big & Tall, Country Treasures by Pat, easyspirit, Vitamin World and New Concept Gifts.
The mall will be replaced with new 130,000-square-foot open-air Lightfoot Marketplace. The shopping center design will be a modern interpretation of traditional architecture. The project contains six buildings filled with retail, offices and restaurants. Lightfoot Marketplace will be anchored by Harris Teeter and Walgreens. The entire project is expected to cost $25 million and estimated to be completely built out by 2016.
